First, Pat Lynch at Ultimate Auto Transport was EXTREMELY helpful, professional, and prompt in all his communication with me about shipping of my 350z from Port Charlotte, FL to Malibu, CA. In fast I used him for both the shipping of the car to CA, then shipping it back, this time from Vegas back to Florida.
Pros:
He arranged for a good transport company VERY quickly for me and got pickups done, in both cases VERY quickly. Great job!
His communication was excellent, whenever there was a question or problem he replied quickly and with the info I needed.
Transport companies he chose picked up quickly, got the car to its destination quickly and safely in both cases.
Price was fair and competitive with other quotes.
Cons:
For the FL-CA trip, the carrier I got was A Unique Transport. Their driver was professional, picked up within 2 days of my call to Pat, and the got the car safely to CA very quickly. However, a little problem. I really needed the car to be delivered on a Friday afternoon, as that was when I was arriving to LA and then Malibu by plane. A Unique got the car to LA several days early, so kept it at their terminal until I could receive it. That part was great. But when I called them, found out the could not/would not deliver it to me Fri. afternoon, would have to wait til Mon/Tues. afternoon as they only did deliveries in the morning, then pick ups in the afternoon. So in order to get my car on Friday, I had to spend an extra $110 on a taxi from LAX to near Ontario, CA to pick up the car. It was there undamaged, but VERY dirty, covered with dust and sand, due to the fact that their parking was in a sandy lot where trucks constantly drive by loading and unloading. They did give a $30 credit for me picking it up, but was still a bit of an inconvenience. But had I been able to take it in the morning, would not have been a problem.
For the return trip, I got Molina and Sons transport as my truck. I can't really say anything good about this company, EXCEPT that they got the car back to FL on time and safely. Pickup was supposed to be a Saturday, they called Sat and said it will be Sunday. On Sunday, we drove to the designated pickup spot and waited, the driver was 1.5 hours late. Driver spoke no English at all. He called his boss, who then told us that since our car wasn't going to Miami, it needed to be loaded last and there were Miami cars to be loaded the next day, so our car had to be parked outside overnight in a Casino parking lot near the truck, to wait to be loaded the next day. Not confidence inspiring. Communication from Molina and the driver was very difficult. He was a nice guy, and got the car to FL without damage. But it was a pretty nerve-wracking experience working with this company, and the least 'secure-feeling' transport that I have had in 4 times shipping cars.
Next time I would surely use Pat and Ultimate to set up my car transport. He was great, and did his best to get done what I needed to have done. Just would not ship a car with the Molina as the trucking company again, too stressful.
