Difficult to Contact

I arranged transportation of a car from Herrin, IL (SE of St. Louis) to Mukilteo, WA (Seattle) through Stateway. I did not get to speak to someone at first, but was able to talk to Rachel who was very nice and helpful. I had researched them in Transport Reviews and they had a good rating. I wanted to move the car fairly quickly and closed the listing on 12/26/12. I drove with my son in a U-Haul to WA and on the way tried to reach Stateway as did my wife. Neither of us were able to talk to anyone. I knew that it might take 5-7 days to schedule the pickup so I waited until I returned home on the 3rd of Jan to call. I was not able to reach anyone. I called again on 1/4 and someone called me back. They told me that since my contract had not been filled and they were supposed to do so by this time, they would increase the offer to the drivers to get it filled. I found out that a fly-by-night operator had listed my job without my permission creating two bids. This leads almost certainly to no one taking the job. I was disappointed that Stateway did not inform me of this conflict, since another carrier informed me of this as a courtesy. Andy did call and apologised for the difficulty. He said that during the holiday season that they were very busy and that he would help expedite my order. By that time, however, I had made other arrangements. He and I had a long conversation about what made me dissatisfied. Stateway promised to refund my deposit promptly. Overall, I found the people I dealt with to be very pleasant and helpful. I probably would have kept my order with them had I been able to talk to Andy sooner. I would recommend Stateway with the reservation that they develop better communication with their customers in the future.
