My request for quotes was promptly answered by Tim Ruben with Stateway. He explained much about the process of shipping my vehicle that I didn't previously know, was clear about what the charges were and to whom they were paid, and what I could expect during the pick-up and delivery of my car. The city I was coming from is away from the major transportation routes, yet I was contacted by a carrier within five days of my stated first pick-up date, and the driver was specific about when he would arrive at my home. Although I had already left Michigan, a good friend had agreed to dispatch my car; he said the driver was courteous and respectful in the handling of my vehicle. Pick-up was late Friday afternoon. The driver called me to tell me of the expected arrival time at my new home, offering two dates: Tuesday or Wednesday. Although I would have liked the driver to contact me on Monday or Tuesday to firm up delivery, he did answer his cell phone promptly when I called him, and then kept in touch, confirming Wednesday morning. On Wednesday, he called to tell me he was "15 minutes away." When he didn't call within 15 minutes, I called him; he said he was experiencing some mechanical difficulties and delivery would be delayed. (At this point, I felt he could have stopped, I'd have met him where he was to pick up the car, and he could have then proceeded to have his truck repaired. Instead, he first had the difficulties repaired.) My car was delivered Wednesday, but late in the afternoon. Although my Wednesday schedule was restricted in the wait for delivery, I was able to work around the delay, and was happy to have my car. I am overall pleased with the experience of using Stateway and would recommend them to anyone needing a car shipped.
