Stateway/GSI Carriers

I decided to go with Stateway given their past positive reviews, the fact they came in with one of the lower quotes, they were an operator/broker and because they advertised the ability to track your car online as its shipped. We'll the tracking piece didn't work out (system was down, and it is apparely carrier dependent when Stateway is the broker and not the carrier), but I'm still a happy camper.

Signing up was easy - there was a $135 deposit and the orignal quote had me paying the drive $800 on deleivery. My first available pick up date was on a Monday 11 days after I signed up, and I hoped this would make my pickup more likely to be sooner after the first available date. I was wrong.

By Thursday there was still no carrier assigned and the personwith my car was getting anxious to get it off their lot. I called up Stateway for a status and got the answer that it could be anytime within the 7 days promised. They said that if it didn't happen by then that they would up the offer made to the potential drivers ($800) using the deposit I had paid them. I would end up paying the driver the additional amount and they would refund the difference.

I asked them to check they brokerage system and let me know where we stood. It turns out that Stateway's pricepoint was dead on, nobody was offering more for transport of a car from my pickup point to my destination, but there were a handful of cars at the same price awaiting transport.

Given that I was now in a hurry, I asked them to raise the amount I was willing to pay the driver by $100 to $900 so my car would be picked first by an available carrier. That change was in the system no more than 5 minutes when a carrier scooped it up. Money talks. Stateway immediately let me know the pick-up date and drop-off date and gave me the carriers direct contact info (almost as good as a tracking system).

GSI Carriers picked up the car the next day and delivered it in 5 days as promised. Communications were good and the driver was very professional. No damage to the car whatsoever.

Overall Stateway made the process easy - were honest about how the system worked, answered their phones and had friendly people talk to me and give me good advice and help on how to expedite the process when my circumstances changed. What more could you ask for?
