Overall a successful transport

Overall the cross-country transport was successful and I would use them again. This was my first experience transporting a car so I did learn some things.

Lessons learned:

1. You can't pick a specific date to have your car picked up. You have to give a 3-day window. We wanted to have it picked up on Saturday and the Rep said she would let them know our preference but it all depends on when the driver is leaving to Origin location. So they came on Thursday instead of Saturday which left my son without his car for the last 3 days he was in CA.
2. If you use an open carrier the car will arrive completely covered with dirt, dust, and small rocks. There was no damage but you'll need a car wash before you drive it anywhere. I'm still trying to get the rocks out from between the rear window glass and the window seal.
3. The driver or transporter is picked after you place your order. The Rep told me this could be as late as a few days before pickup. It was actually sooner than that but I was concerned that we wouldn't know the pickup date early enough to prepare.
4. If you let your quote expire the price could go up when they re-quote it. Mine went up $75 from Friday to Monday after it expired on Friday. The Rep blamed the increase on "Snow Birds" leaving CA but I don't really think people would leave SF in April just when it's getting nice. SF doesn't really get hot.
5. When the car is delivered, the driver will be in a hurry to get to his next delivery so it's hard to get time to inspect the car before you sign off. You may have to ensure he gives you time to inspect your car.
6. You have to pay the driver with Cash or a Cashier's Check when the car is delivered. You can pay the Broker with a credit card when you place the order.
7. The driver uses an 18-wheeler so you may need to meet him somewhere to have the car picked up and delivered if he can't get to your location with the 18-wheeler.

I think that's the main points. Like I said, overall it was successful but there were some challenges and learning experiences. I would still use them again.
