We were dissatisfied with our experience with Ship a Car Direct.

On the positive side, our customer service person, Emily, was friendly and accessible.

However, our car was picked up extremely late, more than a week after our requested date. I feel that I was not given fair warning of the possibility of such a delay. In our initial conversations (about 3 weeks before our desired pickup date) I was told that they have 2-3 trucks per week going through our area, so there should be no problem hitting our desired pickup date, or at least coming close to it. As our desired pickup date approached, I asked about any updates to the estimated pickup date, and I was told the same thing: 2-3 trucks per week, should be no problem hitting our pickup date. It eventually became apparent that their confidence in their ability to meet our desired date was misplaced, as the pickup was actually 8 days late.

We were eventually assigned a carrier and given an estimated date that was only 7 days past our requested pickup date. The carrier, George & Saba Express LLC, was terrible about notifying us of their plans to pickup the car. The carrier was supposed to call in the afternoon or evening prior to the estimated pickup date, which they failed to do. I had to call them to get any kind of information from them, and they said they would come pick up the car "in the afternoon." At about 10 PM, they eventually told me that they could pick up the car after 11 PM or maybe after midnight, but they couldn't commit to anything. I asked them to come back in the morning. They eventually came the next day, but in the afternoon, not in the morning as promised. Prior to the pickup, they called giving only 20 minutes notice that they were coming.

The actual transit of the car across the country was admirably quick, only about 6 days. However, on delivery the carrier was again very bad at communication. They did not call me to tell me the estimated delivery date - I had to call them to learn that delivery would be the day after I called. When the delivery came, only gave me about 15 minutes notice of delivery. This is not acceptable.

The car arrived dirty, but that's to be expected with transport on an open truck, I think.

Just to be clear, I am not accusing Ship a Car Direct or their carrier of violating their contract with me or directly misrepresenting anything. I believe that all of their actions were within the terms of the contract. However, they certainly gave me a false impression as to the timing of the pickup, and communication with the carrier was extremely poor. This caused the whole experience to be very stressful.

I will be using a different company the next time I need to ship a car.
