After being burned once by another service provider (stateway auto) I went with Safe Direct. I received a quoted price and waited and waited and waited. Seems the quote was not accurate to get the job done. After 2 weeks of waiting, I was able to go out to the car in Ca and get it running. We left the same quote in place and we had service within 2 weeks. Overall, still took over 4 weeks to get my car from Ca to Ga. Would have been better if the initial quote was more reflective of actual prices needed to entice a driver. This seems to be a problem in the industry, quote a low price to entice, then wait. I will say that after 2 weeks, Safe Direct lowered their broker fee to increase the payment to the driver and the driver selected went above the call of duty and delivered the car within 3 days. Also, even though the road to my house was too small for his truck, he was able and willing to unload the car and drive it to my hose since my wife was not able to drive the car. great job Alpine Transport Inc . Just wish it did not take so long, after this experience and the experience with Stateway, I'm not convinced this is worth the effort. Next time I will drive.

Thanks for your feedback Bruce - you bring up some really good points for shippers of classic cars. You wanted to ship a non-running 1964 Chevy Corvair, which is larger than modern sedans so a price adjustment has to reflect the fact it is heavier and takes up more space on a truck than another would. Non-running vehicles take more effort to load, so there is a price adjustment there too. It's not that low-balling is industry standard, it's that there aren't set prices. Price adjustments vary from situation to situation and from carrier to carrier. Our quotes are most effective for standard, stock contemporary running sedans but all of our quotes are offered in good faith.
