We asked the broker if we could pay a larger deposit than we were quoted because we did not want to carry a lot of cash on us during our cross country trip. The broker had no issued with this, so we paid $450 up front. When the driver arrived in California, he was expecting $700 instead of the $450 he was owed because the brokers did not pay him his share from our deposit. I called the broker and he had the nerve to ask me to just go ahead and pay the driver the $700 and he would mail me a check for the difference. I told him no, and that he and the driver were just going to have to figure something out. Bless the driver, he let me pay him the $450 and gave me my car, which was in great condition. The driver was very nice, and did a great job. Up until this little fiasco, I was happy with the broker. I was honestly stunned when he asked me to pay for what he owed the driver. Even if he did refund it to me, I just don't see that as being a good business move.
