On July 31, 2007 I agreed to have Express Auto Transport move a car from Danbury, CT, to Rapid City, SD, and made a deposit of $195. The total cost of shipping was to be $910. Express Auto Transport assured me that pickup would be in "7 days or less" and that I would "probably" have the auto within two weeks. I received an email invoice from them on Aug 1, 2007.

After 10 days passed with no word from Express Auto I contacted them on Aug. 10, to inquire about the status of shipping. At that time I was told the car still had not been picked up. They also said that pickups were "usually" within 10 days but pickup dates were "not guaranteed." They assured me they were working on it and would let me know as soon as the pickup was made.

Two days later, 8/12, without having heard a word from them, I called again to check the status. They said the car still had not been picked up. Same story on 8/14 and 8/16.

On 8/16 I contacted another hauler and canceled the order with Express Auto Transport. I canceled by email and phone and demanded a refund of my $195 deposit. The first representative at Express Auto Transport said I needed to talk to a supervisor for a refund. I did so and the supervisor agreed to issue a refund because so much time had passed without a pickup.

Guess what? No refund was forthcoming. I was forced to dispute the charge with my credit card issuer.

Here's my take on this outfit. THEY LIE! They will tell you anything to get you off the phone and never follow through. When pressed on their non-performance they point to the fine print in their contract.

This outfit is as bad as they come.
