When I got a job transfer from Northern Virginia to Southern California, I dreamed of making the journey in my convertable VW on historic Route 66. But I got transferred in January, not June and decided to leave the it to the professionals.

While I did make the initial reservation over the internet, I was able to follow up on the phone and immediately get a person on the line to walk me through what to expect.

*Please keep in mind that you are shipping your car, but that a PERSON is driving an auto transport vehicle loaded with other cars. Give yourself plenty of time to be without of car which is what I did and as a result, I was just less stressed overall about when it showed up. If you are a type A control freak who wants to know where your car is at all times (and you don't have on-star!) then drive it yourself.

*You will be required to present a cashiers check at the time of delivery. It is polite to provide a cash gratuity to the driver.

*I was thrilled with the level of detail they provided at pick-up, every scratch and dent was noted and I received my car in the exact condition that I gave it to them in.

*While some packing of the vehicle is permitted, you will want to monitor that closely. The weight of the car determines the price. More weight= more fuel and as fuel prices continues to rise, I would expect tight control on what you can leave in the car during transport.
