I buy and research things on the internet all the time and had never before felt as sure I was going to get screwed as much as I did while trying to find someone to take my Toyota across the country.
From the moment I mistakenly put my contact info into a website that I thought was an actual company (it was a service which spammed it out to 20 different companies) and filled up my in box and called my phone for three days straight, to all the reviews for any company; all of which had three great reviews and one or two horror stories which used words like thieves and liars.
After looking on the internet for weeks trying to decide on a broker I finally found one that was close by to where I lived as I figured I could at least go after them in court here if there was a major problem.
Direct Express booked my car with GL Auto Transport (I think) and when the driver Dimitri showed up and picked up the truck my brother called me and said that even though he was a couple hours later than he was supposed to be, "the driver was a nice kid and really knew what he was doing" My brother works with heavy equipment and has about 15 employees so when he says that, it says a lot.
Sure enough I got a call in three days from Dimitri to let me know where he was (Montana) and lay out his schedule the next day when he got to California.
We talked on the phone a few times and I met him near another drop off as it worked out well for both of us. He had the car off the trailer and I was on my way with my truck in five minutes.
When I asked him how the drive out was he said, "Uneventful, just the way I like it".
I guess that's all you really want when you're shipping your car too!
Direct Express and the carrier were great and I would use them again.
