I had originally picked another broker, Cascade Vehicle Shipping (CVS) in May, almost 3 months before my move. As the time got closer, I heard that I wasn't getting a great price, so I put in a few more quotes. Turns out I wasn't getting a good price at all and I was not very confident in the company that was supposed to do the transport. Some quotes were dirt cheap, but had no history or reviews, and others just seemed like they would say anything to get you to go with them. I thought that AutoStar by far had the best customer service, seemed trustworthy, and didn't send me 5 e-mails a day like other companies I got quotes from. But, if I was going to switch companies, I thought I should give CVS a chance to match some of these quotes. The person there said that the rates AutoStar and the other companies were quoting me were lies and that they wouldn't be able to find a carrier to take my car at the price I was quoted at AutoStar and then I'd wind up screwed with no way to get my car to California. This totally scared me. So I called AutoStar back and they promised me that he was lying to keep my business. And sure enough the next day, AutoStar had a carrier lined up for me at the price they promised.
I can't say enough about how wonderful Sonia was. She went so far as to check all the systems where my current contract would be listed, because the rep at CVS told me that if I changed carriers, the people bidding for jobs would see that and no one would take my job seriously. Turns out there was no record of my job in those systems, so no one would know that I had switched companies. If it weren't for Sonia being calm, rational, and so sweet as to hold my hand through the process, I would have spent $300 more for my transport. And the company they chose for my job was awesome, and Sonia and the transport company (Pioneer Auto Express) really respected my need for my car to be in LA the day I flew in, due to a surgery I had over the summer.
I highly recommend AutoStar to anyone looking to ship their car. They are not dirt cheap, they have fair and inexpensive rates, with the customer service capacity that exceeds some of the more expensive and "top-rated" companies out there.
