Bait and Switch Practices - Avoid This Company

I am very displeased with this company’s bait and switch tactics. I recently shipped my car from Florida to New Jersey using Amerifreight. When I spoke to Jonathon (one of their agents) on the phone he provided 3 shipment options to choose from, each at a specific price range. The most important factor when choosing an option is with how much time you have available to wait for a pick up. In other words, the more you pay the faster they pick up.

We had 2 weeks plus available to us before the end of our trip so the lowest price shipping rate, which had a 7 to 10 day window, seemed more than adequate. Amerifreight (Jonathon) in fact advised that within 2 to 3 business days, MAX, I would have my car picked up.

Well, after 10 days of waiting, and no word on when we’d have our car picked up we started panicking. After several phone calls to Amerifreight (our calls were going unanswered) we were finally told that if we wanted our car picked up we’d have to pay TRIPLE the rate we already paid. Yes, triple. With no other options, or nowhere else to turn, we agreed.

I am totally convinced that Amerifrieght operates this way as standard operating procedure. See, the longer you wait for a truck (and do not hear from them), and the closer you get to your departure date, you will have no choice but to pay an exorbitant price increase to get Amerifrieght to fulfill their initial obligation.

I very strongly recommend against using this company due to their unethical business practices.

We are disappointed that this customer was not pleased with our service. The customer placed the order in at the Economy rate, which our Shipping Agents will tell you and it is noted on the Order Forms, does not have a guaranteed pickup time frame. Economy is a standby rate. It is designed for customers who do not have any time restrictions and just want the vehicle moved at the lowest rate possible. We do have upgraded rates that offer guaranteed pickup windows. The customer also was shipping during snowbird season. During this time of the year, hundred of vehicles are leaving FL headed north. When this happens, the shipment of a vehicle can be delayed more than the average time frame. We sincerely apologize for the frustration this customer experienced. This person's order was handled by our Shipping Agent, Jonathan- direct line 678-369-4162.
