AmeriFreight arranged the shipment of my 1977 Ford Bronco from Ventura, California to Acworth, Georgia. I booked the trip with AmeriFreight on 1/28/10 with a deposit of $195.00 and a contracted price of $600.00 to be paid by me in the form of cash or cashier’s check directly to the driver. The Bronco was to be picked up within five Business days. On the sixth day (2/3/10), with no pickup scheduled, I was contacted by Amy by e-mail that they would take $50.00 from my deposit and apply it to payment of the driver to entice someone to pick up the load. I left a message for Amy on 2/3/10 and she promptly returned my call the same day to discuss my options of adding more money to the delivery or waiting for pickup. I was contacted on 2/5/10 by Red, who told me that if I would be willing to add $100.00 that they could attain a driver and dispatch the transport. I agreed and within an hour it was indeed dispatched. On 2/7/10 the Bronco was on the truck. I talked to the driver that stated that he had three more cars to pick up before heading to the Atlanta/Acworth area. I was instructed by AmeriFreight to contact the driver directly for updates on when the Bronco would be delivered. I called the driver on 2/12/10 to see about where he was and when he thought he would be in my area. The driver was very rude and berated me on calling him directly, which he continued even after I said that I was instructed to do so. I just wanted an idea of where he was so I could schedule to be home for the delivery. A state that he was in would have sufficed, especially since I was the one paying him. I contacted Red to see if she could locate him on two occasions (she is very patient and gives stellar customer service) as well as Aaron on one occasion and neither was successful in getting a hold of the driver. I received my Bronco on 2/16/10 at 9:30pm. The driver gave me two hours notice. I thought this was funny since during his tirade on the phone he said “didn’t I tell you when you called when I picked up the Bronco that I would call you 12-24 hours before I delivered it”. Needless to say I paid the driver exactly $750.00. He blew at least a $100 tip, but rudeness only gets you what you deserve.
To sum it up, I paid $945.00 and it took 19 days to get my Bronco. The Bronco arrived unhurt which was the most important thing to me. I highly recommend AmeriFreight and if you ask for Red she will treat you right. My only suggestion would be that AmeriFreight track the shipments and supply automatic updates as to where vehicles are. In the age of GPS this shouldn’t be too hard. I can’t hold AmeriFreight responsible for a driver being rude. They don’t hire them they just contract them. If you book AmeriFreight you will not be disappointed.
