I used AmeriFreight to transport my car cross country (Claifornia to Pennsylvania). Overall, I thought Amerifreight had good customer service and the total cost was pretty good compared to several other transport companies I researched and obtained quotes from. My primary contact was at times hard to get a hold of even though I was given his cell phone as well as his office number. My calls were returned about 2-3 days after I left a message which at the time was slightly inconvenient because I was in the process of physically moving and wanted to make sure the shipping of my car was taken care of before I left.
There were problems with the carrier company (FHT Autotransport) who ended up bidding on the job from AmeriFreight to physically ship my car. In the end I was extrememly dissapointed with the carrier (FHT) because they never called me to let me know that they picked up the car from the California location nor did they call me with sufficient notice that the car was close to being delivered. Due to the insufficient notice of delivery, the carrier could not deliver the car to me but rather I had to travel to another state (paying $8.00 in tolls) and pay an additional $25 to pick up my car myself at a terminal over an hour away. I contacted AmeriFreight and explained my experience with the carrier. They assured me that that they would not use FHT in the future given the poor customer service with them.
In hindsight, I wish AmeriFreight would have told me from the start that there was a chance that the carrier would not be able to deliver the car to me as they originally stated. One of the reasons I chose AmeriFreight over other companies was the "door-to-door" delivery service. The customer service reps I spoke to at AmeriFreight were all very symapthetic to what I was going through with the carrier and did all they coukld to trty and rectify the situation. I would recommend AmeriFreight to a friend but would tell them to be sure you get a thorough explanation beforehand about what the carriers may or may not do.

We are sorry to hear about the delivery inconvenience and added frustration the customer experienced. All of our carriers are screened and we use only top rated carriers. We expect our carriers to be in good communication with the customer. Whenever a carrier fails to offer excellent service, they are reviewed and reconsidered as one of our preferred carriers. We are thankful Diana chose AmeriFreight to ship with rather than going directly through a carrier company. As a brokerage, we are able to work on behalf of the customer when issues such as this arise.
