Just Googling auto transport services got me a jumble of different freight brokers and independent carriers, which was making me very nervous. I really didn't want to trust shipping a car from California to Ohio, and my credit card info, to some company based in another state for which I could obtain very little information. Thankfully I stumbled upon this review site, checked out the top 2-3 carriers, and Amerifreight was the #1 with a bunch of positive reviews, like over 1,500 I think.

I submitted my job request online, and had a quote within 24 hours. I was able to call and speak with my account rep to get some questions answered. The carrier they used did a fine job, arrived when he said he would, and actually drove my car to a car dealer for some repairs (I drove him back to his truck in my other car). Amerifreight did a great job, and I will use them again if I ever need to have a vehicle shipped somewhere.

Something that no one says, and that you need to keep in mind, is that on these large trucks that consolidate multiple jobs, they are carrying 6-12 vehicles. These are big double-decker rigs, and the truck drivers need to park in a big parking lot to be able to unload a couple of cars to get to yours. They won't want to drive down any residential streets where the cars might get scraped by tree branches or where they will have trouble turning around. Just something to plan for, as I was not aware of this and was expecting it would be dropped off at my house. You will need to pick a spot, like a local Walmart, Target, or shopping mall, to meet the driver and get your car... which means you need a way to get there and someone to drive your car back to your house. This may not be the case with more expensive enclosed transport jobs, where the rig hauling your vehicle will probably be smaller.
