Friendly Customer Service - Unreliable timetable

Staring with a positive: The representatives with AmeriFreight as well as their subcontractor were friendly, professional, and responsive. And given AmeriFreight's high rating with the BBB, I was initially anticipating a very smooth, positive experience shipping from AZ to GA. The experience I had was anything but smooth or positive. First, the cost: AmeriFreight asked for details of my needs and returned a quote which was on the higher side of the range, but given their excellent rating, I believed would be justified. However, once I had agreed to contract, it was then that the price increased by almost $400. If drivers set the price, then AmeriFreight should not offer quotes to potential customers. It feels deceptive like "bait and switch" advertising. The second major issue i had was multiple delays and "broken promises" regarding delivery. At the time my deposit was taken, I was told that the car would be picked up on Monday and delivered by Friday. After several follow ups with the contractor, i was told that the driver was still in CA when previously i was told he should be in AZ, then when my car was picked up (on Wed, not Mon), I was told it would definitely be delivered on Sat. When I followed up on Fri to confirm, i was told the driver "had a flat tire" and was still in Dallas, TX. I wasted all day Sat waiting. No car. Finally it arrived very late on Sunday evening. The driver would not come to the drop of address I had provided a week earlier, so i had to drive to meet him after all the delays. Lesson learned. Buying a car long-distance? Fly out, drive it home, and save a LOT of headache and frustration!
