Car damaged, no reimbursement received

We hired Amerifreight to ship our car but it turns out Amerifreight is only a broker for actually carrier companies. The carrier company that showed up to our door, Quality Transport, had only a few reviews and most were bad. When the car was picked up and loaded onto the truck, the driver made multiple deep scratches on the bumper as it rubbed up against the metal siding of the truck as he went up and down the ramp trying to settle the car at the top of the inclined ramp. He acknowledged the damage and said his company would pay for the damages. When the car arrived, we called Quality Transport and gave them a couple of estimates, both of which they flat out refused to pay and offered us a quarter of what the estimates showed. We then had to go through our own insurance company and pay our deductible so that our insurance company could cover the damages. To this day, our insurance company has still not been able to get a hold of Quality Transport or their insurance company for reimbursement. Unfortunately, Amerifreight was useless in helping us claim our damages. They simply collect their fee and then you have to deal with whatever carrier they match you up with.

We regret the inconvenience caused to the customer. We try to secure reliable carriers and use an internal rating available to all brokers to evaluate and approve carriers for our customers. The carrier we used for this shipment had a 95% satisfaction rating. The reviews on this website are mainly directed at brokers as carriers mostly haul for brokers. The few instances that reviews are posted for carriers are therefore mostly grievances. Hence the limited and negative amount of reviews. We worked with the customer to resolve the issues regarding her shipment but it is unfortunately quite complicated. We do have the AFTA assurance plan available for such emergencies, but it was regrettably not available at the time when this order was placed. We will still assist the customer in every way possible to settle this issue even if we are not directly at fault. Hopefully it will be resolved in a satisfactory manner.
