Brokering a carrier to ship a car

AmeriFreight worked to get me a carrier to ship my car from RI to IL. Their agent, Gricell Rosario was very attentive, responsive, and easy to work with. The car was picked up and delivered as agreed with no visible change in condition. The broker fees was paid to them directly and acknowledged via a receipt. The five stars represent my evaluation of Amerifreight. The caveat to note here is that while Amerifreight does the brokering (and they did their job very well), they do not have direct control over the carrier that carries the freight. The car was delayed unexpectedly in transit for a day by the carrier, an event that was unknown to Amerifreight. Also, the carrier had to be paid "in cash" upon delivery with no receipt. The lack of real-time tracking for the car in transit and the cash based transaction seemed rather shady or at least unusual. I am not sure these are representative of practices in the trucking industry or just my unique experience.
