For the price AmeriFreight is a good option. They're a broker, of course, which means that an independent company actually does the shipping. I was aware of this, but did not know that AmeriFreight also negotiates a price with the broker that can differ from the quote you originally receive. In my case I ended up paying $40 more, which was not a big deal, but a slight surprise.

The driver from the independent company was very good about calling beforehand to let me know exactly where he was and when he'd arrive. At the actual pickup he took an extensive catalog of all the scratches and dings on our old Honda to make sure we wouldn't be claiming damages at the other end- he was very concerned about this because he'd been accused in the past.

I stayed to watch him load the car and he had a bit of trouble getting it on the carrier. He must drive a lot of cars, but he claimed ours was underpowered, because it wouldn't go up the ramp- which to my eyes was because he wasn't very good driving the stickshift. It's alarming to watch someone wearing out the clutch on your car. Anyway, it arrived on the other end on time and apparently good shape.

I'd use AmeriFreight again, but I might pay a higher price for another company if I had a more valuable car to ship. On the other hand, I don't know if other companies are any different. For scheduling and customer service AmeriFreight is as good as you can expect.
