After contacting several auto transport brokers, I decided to use with AmeriFreight to coordinate the transport of a vehicle from the West Coast to the Midwest because of their generally good reviews. The process was straight forward, and communication was good. It did however take then a few days to find a transport company after they posted my vehicle on an industry load board. Their initial estimate, while more than some but less than other brokers, was about 20% lower than the actual cost to ship the vehicle. Apparently, the full-size SUV's weight and drop off location were factors in the cost being more than quoted. The transport company they dispatched to transport the vehicle delivered it as scheduled to my driveway without any damage.
I would likely use AmeriFreight again. However, be aware that with auto shipping brokers actual costs may be higher than quoted, finding a transport company to move the vehicle may take them a few days, and most everything in life including auto transport costs and broker's fees are negotiable. Finally, to keep everyone friends, get all promises in writing. Happy shipping!
