While I was generally happy with the customer service agent - Amy, I was very disappointed by their recommended carrier JKUSA (of Los Angeles) and AFTA their gap-insurance provider. The process of reservation was relatively smooth and Amy was helpful. However, Amerifreight will not provide any information about the carrier except to say that they are "highly rated". There is no way to check for yourself the information about the carrier's performance through DOT website (SAFER). In my case, after accepting JKUSA, it was left to me to coordinate with them. I had to contact them several times to figure out a time for them to pick-up. This should have been a warning about their lack of performance. In any case, the pick-up was a day earlier than planned. When it came to delivery, they could not deliver on the planned day and ended up a day later. At the time of delivery, I noticed damage on the fender. I told the driver about the damage. JKUSA was very difficult to deal with since their "claim" department or their insurance policy would not help me. I left several messages and sent emails which were never answered. I could not talk to anyone about my claim. They delayed giving me a response for fifteen days and rejected the claim because they think the fender is undercarriage, damages there are not covered. I had bought the AFTA policy through Amerifreight, one of the reasons for going through them. But there are so many restrictions on AFTA policies that it is not clear that it is worth it. Since I could not get a response from JKUSA in time, I could not submit a claim. So now I am stuck with a bill to fix the fender and Amerifreight will not help me with any of these issues. They insist on being your "agent" in setting up the initial arrangement but then they say you have to deal with the carriers whom you have no ability to select except on Amerifreight say so. Overall this seems like a big racket and I would not use this company again. It would be useful to have a better idea of the carrier you are going to deal with and much greater control over them.

We apologize for any inconveniences experienced by this customer. AmeriFreight works with only the top rated carriers in the industry, meaning they must have an industry wide rating of 95% or higher. This carrier has worked with our clients on many occasions, and we have received nothing but excellent feedback with all previous shipments. As the broker, we provided this customer with all the necessary information to file a damage claim through the carrier's insurance company, as well as, an additional gap coverage plan, however both companies denied the claims due to insufficient evidence of carrier damages.
