Pretty good experience with the person we dealt with from Amerifreight, but once we were given the carrier company, things were a little shaky. First we were told by Amerifreight they would be picking up the car the next day at noon, but when I spoke directly to the carrier, UB Transportation, LLC, they told us they couldn't pick it up until 5-6pm. 4:50pm rolls around and they tell us that they actually cannot come that day afternoon and will pick it up first thing the next morning at 9am. I received no phone call and ended up calling them at 8:50am and they told me they will be picking it up around 5pm that day. I call for an update around 4pm because they are supposed to call you an hour prior to them arriving, and they asked if we could do them a huge favor and meet them at a car dealership. I was disappointed that it wasn't truly door to door service, but by this point, I just wanted the car to be on its way, so we agreed to meet them at the specified car dealership. The driver didn't arrive until almost 8pm that day, and he spoke very limited English, making it very nerve-wracking for me, considering I've given this driver $915 in cash and he is driving away with a large piece of my property. I designated a family member to receive the car at the destination city, and this family member got a phone call on day 3 stating that the car would be ready for drop off at the end of the day. The dates of delivery with Amerifreight were 7-10 days from the date of pick up at the origin city, so I was surprised it had arrived on day 3. I did not want my family member receiving the car at night with bad lighting, so I had to call the carrier to request it be delivered the next morning and fortunately the driver agreed. He drove the car (not the semi truck with 8 other cars) to the destination address, but then my family member had to give him a ride back to his truck, which I didn't think should have been asked of her. My family member was happy to do it, but I don't think it's good practice to ask the customer to drive you back to your truck. Ultimately , the process worked out for me, but it could have been problematic if I had been the only one available to receive the car at the destination city. It arrived 4 days early from the 7-`10 day window period, so if no one was available to receive the car, I would have been in a real bind. The other thing that I found alarming was my family member who I designated in my contract to receive the car got a text message from the carrier stating that $915 was due upon delivery, which made us frantic because I already paid them $915 in cash at the time of pick up, so I called the carrier and she nonchalantly told me to disregard the text message because the carrier must not have spoken to the broker (Amerifreight) that they already received payment. I didn't think it was very organized nor was there good communication between broker and carrier, otherwise, we would have not received such a text message. I liked who I dealt with at Amerifreight, but I would not recommend going with the carrier UB Transportation LLC, based in Los Angeles.
