Car pickup at pre-quoted price was late, but AmeriFreight worked to get it here promptly

My original order was placed on June 11 for a price of $950 for flexible delivery dates in late July. When the date got closer to pickup - and 7 days after the flexible time was allowed - there was still no word on my car. I called AmeriFreight and they said that at the originally quoted price of $950, no carriers were interested in taking my car. (Most likely it was because the price of gas had gone up, which is why I tried to lock in the price early). AmeriFreight suggested raising the price to $1050 and agreed to split the extra $100 - they would pay $50, I would pay $50. Several days later, I received a call saying that there was a carrier who would take the car at the new price. From that moment on, all interactions with AmeriFreight went smoothly - the carrier dropped off the car on the day that he promised, he worked with me to figure out an appropriate location for drop-off (as I was walking on foot), he returned the car without damages.

In the future, I would recommend AmeriFreight again but just be cognizant of the fact that quoted prices aren't necessarily going to be the real price (especially given the volatility of gas prices). Also, the flexible pick-up is not guaranteed in one week - it has to be re-quoted, generally at a new price.
