My move was for one car and one truck from the Pittsburgh area to an area 60 miles north of Seattle. I had never done anything like this before so I had no idea what a ballpark estimate was. I had requested estimates from many companies before I researched companies with the best reviews. Amerifreight was very competitive with the other quotes I'd received. However, my move was planned for March and we had just gotten a lot of snow and bad weather. I was told they could pick up anytime within a certain window starting March 1st. When I didn't hear from the coordinator for over a week after that March 1st date, I had to leave several messages to get someone to give me a status. Josh did call me back and explained that the delay was because they could not get any drivers going to the West Coast during the time I'd requested. All these companies are rallying for your business but you don't really know if there will actually be a driver going to your destination at the same time you need your vehicles to be there. You also have to take the weather into consideration. I ended up having to pay over $1000 more than the original quote due to the lack of drivers and the weather that was impacting travel. I'm still not sure I understand that part since the snow was melted by the time they came to pick up my cars and the driver had a full load of cars. Even so, from the time they came to pick up the cars to the time they delivered, everything was as it was quoted. I was given a three day window for pickup and the driver called one day before he planned to be there and again one hour before his arrival. On the WA end, we were given a three day window. They called one day prior to the drop off and again about an hour prior to showing up. The communication was good and they kept their commitments. The driver was very thorough in marking on paper anything that might be considered 'damage' to my vehicles prior to loading them so we could agree on the condition of my vehicles before they made the trip. He was also just as thorough to go over them once they arrived at my new location. They arrived in good condition and I had no problems with either of the vehicles after they were dropped off. Overall, I'm happy with Amerifreight and their customer service. My only caution would be that in your research, you have to consider the availability of the driver and possible weather issues that may impact the initial quoted price. Be sure to ask those questions and budget accordingly. My notes to the company would be that even when you don't have an answer, please communicate!! I was in the middle of a whole house move with many planets to align. Having to make multiple phone calls to get any kind of answers just shouldn't be on your customer....especially if you want my business. It can make your customers feel as if you have them over a barrel by the time we do hear from you and time is critical.
