I initially called a month before I needed the cars to be shipped to gather information
about how the process works. I mention via email follow-up question "When is the latest date I should contact you to confirm that I need the cars to be shipped?" He replied with "date X". I contacted him a week before "date X" then he said I must increase the bid by $300 because of the short notice. I agreed because it was too late to find another company then I later found out from reading the MARC contract (that I received after agreeing to bid) says they can only go up to $200.
I do NOT mind paying a fair bid + tip but when you tell me to contact you by "date X" and I contacted you a week earlier then "date X". You say that is not enough time and increase the price by $300 which is contradicted by the contract later I feel taken advantage of.
Carrier
I was contacted about a week early before my vehicle was suppose to be pickUp. The Carrier asked me could he pickUp the vehicle early to avoid a snow storm during the transport route. I said sure with 1 condition do Not get there before "date Y" so I can be there to receive the cars. He confirm that fulfilling this condition was no problem. About 3 days after the pickUp he contacted me saying the storm did Not happen and he was going to be there the next day (this was about a week before "date Y" which I was going to be at the destination).
In addition, he could not wait for me to arrive there and asked could I find someone else to receive the cars. Luckily, I knew someone in the area to receive the cars or it would have been in a bad situation.
Overall
I felt slightly taken advantage of and put in an difficult situation but the Job was completed. At the end that is what really matters.
