First time shipping a vehicle. I found the process very intimidating once I started filling the 'free quote' requests and began receiving dozens and dozens of emails and multiple repeated phone calls. Over the next few weeks, I read the reviews of everyone I looked at and found a common theme; this is a cut-throat business and the brokers will say anything to get your business to post the load. The price is always too low and they have little if anything to do with the haul/carrier itself. Keeping this in mind, the complaints and comments I saw on this and other sites from customers using this service demonstrated that people expect this to be like using FedEx or UPS. Well, its not. You're posting a bid and hoping a carrier will pick up the load for that price. If not, the price keeps going up until it does. Once the random carrier picks up the load, you are at their mercy and hope for the best.
Now on to AmeriFreight. Their reviews showed few if any negative comments on their service. Whereas all the other competition received comments about the attitude received when issues were experienced, the inability to get a deposit refund returned, or just how horrible the haul experience was. I can honestly say, when I called AmeriFreight, I could understand them and there was no high-pressure sales tactics. They spoke clear American English and was very helpful each time I spoke with them. Within a couple days over a holiday weekend, I received a call from the same person who informed me a driver was interested, but for $200 more. Based on the highest 'quotes' from some of the other brokers, this amount was still in range and is what I expected it to originally ship for. I told them to do it and a driver called me within the next couple hours. The vehicle was picked up and shipped without incident. So all in all, they made this process much easier than anyone else I spoke to and I greatly appreciate that. I've not been compensated for this review, rather I was NOT 'charged' an extra $50 to NOT post it. This had no bearing on what I have said, merely that it got me to say it in the first place as I didn't want to be charged any more. I hope this was helpful to you as reading this myself when I was searching would have been for me.
