Being in the military it was important to me to find a good broker/carrier for my vehicle (especially since I was moving x-country from Florida to Washington). I called ahead about 2 months ahead of time just to get a quick quote and get some questions answered. AmeriFreight's customer support was excellent. I could always get in touch with a real person and was actually assigned my own representative (Graham) who knew me and the details of my move every time I called. He was upfront and honest with me about the different rates they as a broker try to provide through independent carriers. I made my reservation using their Economy Saver Rate which requires one to be flexible +/-7 days from the day you want pickup (quoted me $800 for the Florida to Washington transport plus $200 for the broker commission). There were certain issues about the flexibility of this economy rate on my end which had me worried and it was suggested that if I did have issues with the economy rate I should upgrade to a more expensive rate which could guarantee a pickup within a couple days (another $200 or so). A week before the day I wanted pickup I called to see if there was a carrier willing to pickup on the economy rate I reserved for originally and they told me just to wait a little longer as it's only within a few days of pickup that carriers take the order. I appreciated that they didn't push me into upgrading to a more expensive rate and were honest with me about how the broker/carrier relationship worked. In the end my vehicle was shipped under the economy rate since I had things logistically worked out on my end (having friends be there to sign for pickup). The $800 originally quoted for this rate did in fact change with the carrier requiring $1100 for the shipment. AmerFreight was honest at the beginning that the originally quoted rate was still liable to change within a few hundred dollars. This was strictly a carrier issue though. My vehicle arrived in Washington within 10 days a little dirty (as expected) but otherwise just fine. Overall a good experience with an honest broker who are polite and willing to help you through a stressful move.
