The cost of the move was quoted to me to be $1100.00. I requested a 5-7 day pick up window that would make me select the Priority Preferred rate. I did, at a $200.00 additional cost, bringing my quote to $1300.00. The problem I had was that when the 5-7 day window finally came up, I had no word from Amreifreight on if anyone would come pick up my vehicle. I had to constantly call the company when I got in this timeframe to see what we could do. By this time, it was too late to contact anyone else. On the day before I had to leave the state, I was contacted by Amerifreight that they had someone that would ship the vehicle for another additional $200.00. Though, I expected the vehicle to be picked up in the agreed upon window, since I optioned for the Priority Preferred rate, I was forced to fork out the additional $200.00 due to the extremely late notice of my options, bringing my total cost to $1500.00. This really felt like the makings of a "nickel and dime you to death" company that will intentially put you into a vulnerable position so they can make more money from you. Though the vehicle did arrive undamaged and on time, I will never deal with a broker like this again, even if I were reimbursed the additional $200.00 (though I asked Graham, the salesperson, about this and was promptly denied any compensation) that was squandered from me at the last second. I only deal with businesses that adhere to their word and suggest only going directly through carriers and no brokers.
