MIXED OPINION

This was my first experience shipping a vehicle and I learned a great deal. I have a very mixed review. First piece of the puzzle to understand is that all the company's offering you pricing for the shipment of your vehicle are simply brokers and have no actual way to quote an actual price... the driver or the actual shipping company are the ones who will determine the price. I was originally quoted $975 with great assurances that it would be accepted by a driver - "no problem". This company also requires a credit card to "reserve the price quote". BUT - they say you can cancel ANYTIME - no charge. They say they will be in touch and keep you informed - I only heard from them when I called to follow up. Well as the first available pick up date came along... I continued to reach out to Ultimate Transport 123 - again to be assured that they had a driver and were just waiting on completion by the driver of forms (which I was supposed to receive a copy of the drivers insurance). Then I would receive the driver's information and pick up information. The window for finding a driver is 3-5 days from the first available pick up date, by the way. on the 3 day past the first available pick up date, I got a call - good news/ bad news. We have a driver available to take your car to VA - BUT the price is now $1375. What?? $400 higher? The person who calls obviously is disappointed that the original sales person made the quote too low and there is no way to get this vehicle from CA to VA for such a low rate. Obviously, I can decline the driver and hope another one comes along. Keeping in mind if I cancel the transport at this time, I will be charged the $250 cancellation fee (that was supposed to be FREE cancellation). So now I am in the position of having talked to at least 10 brokers - and really I feel like they are all fairly similar I have to get the vehicle there - so fine. I will accept the driver. ( By the way - side note - my very busy time of year for work is upon me, so more hours spent to do more research, to maybe find a better deal, taking into consideration the $250 cancellation fee... well not going to happen right now) - foolishly I accepted the driver. One of the items that drew me to this broker was the online tracking that was available for me to ship my military son's car from CA to VA. Unfortunately, the tracking program was not available. I get assigned a driver with a shipping company - now the communication primarily should come from the shipping company - I am to receive a call a day before the car will be picked up and a window of time for pick up. NOPE - got a call the day of - 3 hours before pick up (I am really glad everything with the car was done and ready). Let me interject here - THE DRIVER WAS FANTASTIC!!! He called and arranged the pick up and was polite and when I met him, he was super nice and respectful of the vehicle. I would love to call him directly for any future transport! The transportation company - nor the broker gave me ANY updates on the vehicle I called and on two occasions confirmed the anticipated delivery date with the broker and once with the transportation dispatch. I also confirmed that the telephone number for the recipient on the VA side's phone number was correct. Well this morning I get a call, from the transport dispatch - the driver will be dropping the car in about 3 hours. The car was anticipated tomorrow. (The family member receiving the car had made schedule adaptations for tomorrow to assure her availability to receive the car). Nope - it will be today. So they advised that the delivery to her address is "not going to happen" and advise her to drive an additional 15 minutes away because there is no other location that the truck will fit. John, the dispatcher was incredibly rude to her as she was attempting to provide alternate locations near her location as this was not anticipated to arrive today and she has some family requirements limiting her to where she can go to meet the driver to receive the car. (For those who have never shipped a car - plan on 15-50 minutes for delivery of the car depending on the number of cars that have to be taken off the truck to get to yours). Due to the rudeness I called John and spoke to him - using Google Maps and satellite images, gave him 3-4 different addresses that would work for the truck and work for my family member (keep in mind this service is sold as DOOR to DOOR) - he kept telling me that I don't know how large the truck is and that it will not work. So apparently the other large trucks that deliver to Dick's Sporting Good, Weyman's, Dollar Tree and a variety of other retailers who receive deliveries only use small trucks. Not likely. When I gave him alternate HUGE parking lots to meet in - he told me it wasn't going to happen and he could instead take my car to PA Jana Transport - SHAME ON YOU. This broker should reconsider working with Jana. BEWARE. This broker did step in and help get the transporter to deliver the car to the address I provided. So that was a huge positive. This industry just seems very lacking. I understand that weather and a multitude of things can happen - but communication would have been great, the who price jump seems like a scam, but my vehicle got where it needed to go. Again - the driver who actually did the work was FANTASTIC! I was hopeful that I would find the negative reviews about this company wrong... but unfortunately they were more accurate than I hoped for.
