Unlike the broker we used, which was excellent, this car carrier was a nightmare.
The carrier arrived two days later than the promised delivery date. They had trouble on the road with bad tires not once but three times and were held up at a weigh station due to bad tires that needed to be changed. When they finally arrived at the destination the driver of the car would not allow my daughter to inspect the car. He just began screaming at her to give him his money. The contract we received from the broker and from this carrier:
Transcar Auto Transport, Inc. West Palm Beach Florida:
stated that upon arrival the recepient of the vehicle should make sure the car runs, inspect for damage etc. before signing the Bill of Lading. The driver of the truck did not want to allow my daughter this privelage. He began screaming at her and her grandmother and grabbed my daughter by the arm, pushing her in to the car and ripping the keys from her hand. He jumped in her car and began driving it down the road yelling that if he did not get his money he would take her car. He also threatened her grandmother when she asked him to calm down. By this time several neighbors had come out of their houses. One neighbor told the driver he was going in to call the police. My daughter was hurt and hysterical by this time and gave the driver the cash for delivery of the car. He again refusd to sign the Bill of Lading and a paid in full receipt. When the neighbor repeated that he was calling the police the driver signed the paper, threw it at my daughter and left.
When we contacted the carrier company Ivis, owner of the company, said the driver was upset because he had just been through a bad experience in the town he was in before arriving at my daughters. My daughter has cuts and bruises and we are pressing charges for assault among other things.. We have five witnesses who were at the scene and are going to testify to this driver's behavior. I would advise everyone to stay away from this company or at least a driver named Luis Herrera. If any Broker assigns them to you as your carrier, ask for somone else. I am still finding it hard to believe that this has happened to us because a driver did not follow his own companies contract instructions.
