In September 2008 I enlisted the Services of Specialty Mobil Systems (SMS) to transport my non-operational 1959 Hillman Minx convertible from San Francisco to northern San Diego County. The process of scheduling the move and paying the required deposit was efficient and the staff at SMS, (Amy and Dee), were very courteous and professional.

Amy promptly found me a transporter who was based in San Diego and traveled the I-5 corridor twice a week. The company selected to provide the actual transportation was H & H Transportation, which on first appearance was also poised to be a seamless experience at a fair price.

Soon my half-full glass would become dry as a bone.

The H & H Transportation driver showed up four hours late – even though this company had my direct cell phone number and was instructed to call me if there would be any delay. Both the driver and the owner stated that they had had “mechanical problems,” but no one ever called me.

The company was informed that my vehicle was inoperative and that they’d need a flatbed with a wench to load the vehicle driver. There driver showed up without a wench, so I had to enlist the help of five bystanders to push and coax the vehicle onto the with a come-along that I provided. I almost missed my flight to So Cal.

They delivered the vehicle to me (safely) in So Cal some two days later (18 hours later then they had stated). I almost missed my flight back to No Cal.

In summary, Specialty Mobil Systems was great, caring, responsive, professional, and I would definitely use them again.

However, in my personal opinion, H & H Transportation was unreliable and I would not use them again. I am confident that SMS has eliminated this vendor from their list of drivers.
