I chose Honesty First mostly because of the amount of useful information on their website. What I found there answered questions I didn't even know I had about shipping an automobile. Even after asking acquaintances for referrals, I ended up choosing Honesty First (also based partly on their reviews) and was happy with their service.

I had a little trouble at first getting a driver to sign up to carry my car, since it was going all the way across the country to a very small town in VT. My understanding from Honesty First is that vehicles going from big city to big city are more likely to be picked up sooner, as there are more drivers going to/from that type of area. Considering that, it was ok that it took ~4 days for a driver to sign up. Also, Honesty First told me that it might help to "throw a few more dollars at it", so I had him add another $100 to the amount being offered. That seemed to do the trick; it went the next day.

The driver assigned spoke very broken English and was thus very hard to understand by phone, but otherwise, I had no complaints. He picked up the car right on time and at the beginning was very responsive by phone and very forthcoming with information. He told me when he was in Idaho, and New Jersey, and Boston.

About 3-4 days after picking up the car, he couldn't be reached by phone for a day or so. When I did hear back from his office, they said his truck had broken down in the Boston area. Since that's only 4 hours from my home, I figured I'd see the car in a day or so. But it took about another week.

Luckily, I wasn't moving to a new place, or waiting for my car to start a new job, or anything like that, so I wasn't on a tight schedule. I didn't care how long it took to get it as long as it got to me undamaged, which it did- it was in tiptop shape. I had requested a top load to lessen the chances of something dripping down onto the convertible top from another car, etc, and I got that.

On the day the car arrived, the driver called me from about 3 houses down to say he was here. He was very personable, very polite, and apologized profusely for the delays caused by his truck. (He was on his way to a vacation with his wife and children, who were in the vehicle with him. :-))

In summary, if I had been on a schedule where I needed the car on an exact date, I might have had a problem with the few days the driver was out of touch. But since I wasn't, even though I was anxious/excited to get my new car and thus got a bit cranky at the delay, it was fine- in fact, the day it arrived here in VT it was snowing and about 30 degrees, so it was FAR from convertible weather anyway. :-)

I would absolutely recommend Honesty First to others.
