I purchased a BMW in CT and needed it shipped to TX. I did a lot of research and called probably 10 different companies that advertised car transportation services. When I would decide on a company that looked good, I would research reviews in various places. I ultimately decided to go with Ship a Car Direct because of the videos on their site and the additional insurance and assurances they provide if your car is damaged during transport. In addition, they work with the actual transport companies and only trusted companies that perform well stay on their list. This is really the advantage any of these companies provide over contracting with a transport company directly. I watched all of the videos and felt very informed afterwards. I understood that the great majority of companies that advertise these services are all brokers, and were not going to be involved in actually transporting the car. The only thing I really didn't understand was the cut between the broker and the transport company. I don't remember the exact cost, but I paid for covered transport and i think the total was $1,400. Ship a Car Direct took a payment of $250 and the rest was paid directly to the transport company. Other than scheduling the pickup, i spoke with the transport company directly during transport. I talked to the Ship a Car Direct person once. I sent a couple of emails that were never answered (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) before contacting the transport company. They had the answers anyway. The car was delivered in perfect condition. Overall, this was a really good experience. If i needed this service again, i would contact the transport company directly. Again, it was worth the broker fee the first time around.
