Good Broker, Subpar Carrier

John from Ship a Car Direct was informative and proactive, taking the initiative to contact me with relevant updates and information. I generally had a good experience dealing with this company directly. The carrier (Maar Auto Transport LLC) they used though was a bit disappointing. The carrier was scheduled to deliver my car on Wednesday. They even called on Tuesday to confirm; they said that they'd give another call 2 hours before they arrive. However, on Wednesday they didn't show up and I received no notification from them about any delays. I've essentially wasted a day waiting. I had to call the carrier to inquire about the status of the delivery. The person on the line said that it would now be delivered on Thursday and that he would call me later to talk about the situation. I never got that call. I reached out to Ship a Car Direct on Thursday morning (6 AM) to remedy the situation, and they were very responsive (responded at 11 AM). However, they didn't get to do much because the carrier finally called a few minutes before they responded to say the car was arriving in an hour (not the 2 hour window they said they would give). I had to spontaneously take time off work in the middle of the day and haul my ass back home from across the city. This might be okay if I was home all week but as someone starting out at a new job, the experience was frustrating for both me and my employer. The car itself was delivered in regular condition though--no problems on that end. In summary, I like Ship a Car Direct, but maybe they should get better carriers or at least instruct the ones they use to communicate in a more timely and responsible manner.
