I recently had my car transported from MI to CA. I contacted Ship-A-Car Direct about a week in advance. I spoke with David and explained my flight arrangements and requested a specific pick-up and delivery window. Dave was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. He explained everything thoroughly and informed me that the time frames were not guaranteed. Dave was able to find a carrier in a timely manner. After a few days, Dave found a carrier (Great West Auto Transport) for my order. However, the price was going to be $50 higher than the prices I was originally quoted. Dave explained the pricing and asked if I was okay with this prior to booking that particular carrier. After I agreed, he went on a made the arrangements. My car was scheduled to be picked up 9/27. So, I cleaned it really good and took pics with my camera (interior, exterior, mileage, gas level) and their app to take photos of my vehicle . The app was very easy to use. The carrier actually called to pick the vehicle up a day early which was not an issue for me. We made arrangements to meet at a nearby grocery store lot. It was around 7:30PM (EST) so it was dark by the time we met. The lot was almost full. Therefore, he had to parked on the side street next to the lot. We used his flashlight to inspect and document the condition of my vehicle. I had a few bags loaded in my SUV weighing no more than 100 lbs. The driver "Frank" (not his actual name which is of foreign decent according to his signature on the paperwork) said he needed $50 before he would begin loading the vehicle . He just he pocketed this money and would not give me a receipt upon request. This was NOT included in the second price quote. I'd read reviews stating that drivers often demand more money at pickup if the car is loaded extra weight. So, I was not surprised. He was friendly and efficient otherwise. He explained everything and loaded the vehicle. My sister also recorded the process with her cellphone which I highly recommend. The driver noticed he was being filmed and smiled/waved at the camera. lol Once my car got to Los Angeles, it was transferred and a local driver delivered my SUV on time (10/2). He parked my car in front of the apartment leasing office and called for me to meet him there which was great. I didn't have the inconvenience of taking Uber/Lyft to some off-site location to get my vehicle. I inspected the car which had no damage at all, paid the remainder of the fee, signed & received a copy of the receipt, and was on my way. I also tipped the delivery driver $20. He seemed shocked but very appreciative. I'd highly recommend both Ship-A-Car Direct and Great West Auto Transport. FYI: I did not bother to take delivery inspection photos since there was no damage. I was also surprised at how clean the car remained during the transit. I did not have to rewash it or scrap any bugs off the grill and windshield.
