This company is the one to use

This company actually is better than most, and here's why: you can (and I did) speak to a live person there (- Renee), who will explain exactly how they - and everyone else in the business - works, and then it happens pretty much exactly as she said that it would. They quote you a price that they believe - from experience - that a carrier will agree to ship your car, including their 'brokerage' fee. This is put out to tender, and if they have got it about right, a carrier will get back to them within a few days. Ship-a-car then gives you the contact at the carrier (I spoke to them too - John, at TransAuto Direct), who arranges the pick-up. Ship-a-car have an app you use to take photos of your car at either end (dead easy to use - only thing is, take your own photos too - those taken through the app aren't saved on your phone, so if the report it generates doesn't save for any reason (mine didn't the first time), you have no record of the pictures). You then have the name of your rep at Ship-a-car (Stefan); their 24-hr CS number, and the name and number of the driver - and a tracking number - so there's no way you can't find out from somebody what's going on. (My carrier also happily checked on progress for me at several points on the journey by phone when the tracking hadn't caught up.) The car was delivered where it should be, at the time it was supposed to be there, tripmeter reading precisely the same as when it left, and without a single additional scratch. Not many companies out there are this transparent - if one is quoting you a low-ball amount, it may be just to get your business, when they will come back with a hike in the price because no carrier would take your vehicle for that amount. I have to say that I was skeptical that all would go well with this - there are so many stories out there - but now I have to be fair and say that honestly, it did. Very.
