I needed to ship a specialty sports vehicle from NC to home in TX, and have it picked up while I was up there for 4th of July holiday. Used the transport review sites including this one, and found Ship A Car Direct had good ratings and upper-end price quote but by no means the most expensive. Some helpful online videos. I placed my order with them on 06/27. The transporter they ultimately chose did a great job, was NC based, and arrived on time at pick up. He was delayed about 12 hours at pick up due primarily to some bad weather en route, but texted status and since he was now delivering Saturday AM it was actually more convenient for me. Price was as originally estimated, with an initial payment via credit card once the dispatch had been made, the balance by cashier's check on arrival and inspection. The smartphone app they have is pretty basic but sufficient to walk you through getting pics of the vehicle at both ends to document any claims for damage. You get copies of the pics sent to email. The four-star rating is due to uncertainty on when the pickup would actually happen. My requested date was 07/02, and even through that morning I was expecting/hoping that was the case. I was eventually informed that the pickup would be the next day. Given I was flying out on 07/04 this was kind of nerve-wracking. As they told me would happen, I continued to get solicitations from other transporters via email and phone promising they had someone in the area, which added to my worry that I might be left stuck. In the end it was overall positive experience, with some room for improvement.
