Avoid Ship A Car Direct & Safe Auto Transport

I shipped my car from Massachusetts to California via Ship A Car Direct (who used Safe Auto Transport as the carrier). It was a horrible experience for two reasons:

1. There car was delivered to me with large scratches across the hood that were NOT there prior to delivery. I do not have a before picture of the hood, and the bill of landing upon pickup did indicate scratches on the car, both of which are partly my fault. However, Ship A Car Direct is also partly to blame, as they told me to take before pictures of the car only after it had already been picked up, and because they used Safe Auto, who had colored in the entire picture of the car on the bill of landing (which my elderly father signed at pick up) effectively giving them a free pass to beat up the car.
2. The car is shaking and making a noise on breaking. I had a full inspection for the car in late September, and the car was driving perfectly, but now it is not. I am no longer driving it until I can have it fully inspected, and do not know the extent of the damage, if any.

Ship A Car Direct is not refunding me any money for the scratches or the break issue, and is not making a claim against Safe Auto for me.

I am NOT happy with Ship A Car Direct and I am NOT happy with Safe Auto. I had multiple quotes for $850, but paid $1,250 on the assumption that Ship a Car Direct would contract with a quality company that would deliver the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, and would stand by its customer, both of which did not happen.

We are sorry to hear that your 11 year old car is having mechanical problems. The scratches you are claiming were already noted on the bill of lading on pickup. We also understand you do not have any before pictures. We hope that this mechanical issue will turn out to be something minor, Thank you for understanding why we can not file a damage claim for this. Best of luck to you.
