Honesty Is Key

Ship-A-Car-Direct was great. Jason, my primary contact, touched bases with me several times throughout the shipping process and was very informative.

E & V Transportation, the company that actually shipped my vehicle, on the other hand was quite rude and dishonest. It was my understanding that this business is 24/7 round the clock and when shipping any vehicle you could assume the owner cares about their vehicle as if it was their own child (may be extreme, but that's how I felt!). My car was picked up on a Friday night and when I called the following Monday just to check the status of my vehicle, I was met with a rude gentlemen telling me "Listen, it takes 7-10 days, call back later". Looking back I can see how the man may have felt like I was being impatient but updates couldn't hurt! You can ship a book across the U.S. and the shipping company at least gives you a tracking number! When the delivery was pushing the 10 day mark I grew impatient as Jason from Ship-A-Car-Direct said that he believed it should only take the minimum 7 days given that weather conditions were favorable. The gentlemen behind the wheel of the flatbed that had my vehicle on it kept pushing the drop off time later and later and at one point even said "Listen, this isn't pizza delivery". Again, I understand that maybe I was rushing him but in reality I was just looking for some honesty. I understand there is tons of traffic in LA but if your company is based out of California and you've been doing this for a few years you should be able to provide better estimates and not lead the customer on by saying "another 30-40 mins" when ultimately it came 6 hours after the original estimate. The car was delivered later at night and my car was covered in dust/dirt (not how it was picked up) so I couldn't give the most thorough inspection of my vehicles condition for the bill of lading and the driver complained that he hadn't eaten all day (which I can only assume is his attempt to pull some sympathy out of me).

Would I use Ship-A-Car-Direct again? Of course! However if given the choice, I would not have E&V Transportation handle my vehicle.

Thank you for your thorough feedback, Andy! Sorry to hear E&V were not great communicators, but glad to hear Jason was helpful. It is worth noting that timing is not an exact science, and drive times really do vary in a way that is not easily predictable even when customers are anxious for news. Sorry your carrier was not more helpful in addressing your concerns. And you are right, vehicles do arrive very dusty after traveling across the country!
