Fluctuation price quote

Previously used a year ago for route from San Diego, CA to Boston, MA and was very satisfied with service. Based on that experience, thought I would use them again. Overall, satisfied with transport of vehicle but not with the fluctuation of price after receiving quote.

Placed a order with Ship a Car Direct 2 weeks prior to desired ship date and was put in contact with Matt. Was quoted $1320 for transport from Boston, MA to Los Angeles, CA. As the date approached, called Matt at Ship a Car Direct with concern as a carrier had not yet been assigned. He was very responsive and assured me that the route was very well traveled and it was not unusual to find a carrier until days before the date. Was very surprised to learn a couple days later that carriers were taking cars with higher quotes. Understandable that this is supply and demand, but would have liked to have the agreed upon price honored. At this point, time was limited and there was no choice but to find a carrier at a higher price. Final cost was $1450.

The assigned carrier (Dana Auto Transport) was great. They arrived a day earlier than expected and gave me a call the day before. I wasn't able to make their first appointment time, but he was able to postpone the pickup until late in the evening.

Thank you for your feedback. You bring up a really good point about pricing - we wish we could guarantee pricing too, but carriers accept the best paying jobs available when they are ready to go. Usually, we get it right when we try to anticipate the best price for each move, but we can't force carriers to work for a price we think is fair when they have other (better paying) options.
