Worked with Matt about brokering a shipping contract for my car going from Florida to Oregon. My move date was not static, so I ended up having multiple email conversations with Matt over a 3-4 month period.

Unfortunately by the time I was prepared to move, the availability of shippers decreased significantly which resulted in the fee increasing some since Matts last estimate. Matt had indicated that it was the intention to typically have your vehicle picked up by the shipper within two dates of your available day. Due to the limited supply of shippers heading from the east coast out west, we were not able to find a shipper who could pick up my car until almost 11 days after my first available day.

For planning purposes this could be difficult for some as the earliest day the shipper could get my vehicle was the day after I was flying out west. Fortunately in my situation, I had family who were able to handle that end of the transition.

The shipper utilized was based out of the city I was moving to. They indicated that it would take approximately 7 days to have the car shipped from FL to OR. I had expected to hear from them the day before to coordinate a time to receive the car. Unfortunately they did not let me know that the car was in the area until an hour before they were ready to deliver. I ended up picking up the vehicle near the outskirts of the city later that afternoon. My other option was to wait two days for them to try and redeliver the car. Upon picking up the vehicle, it was absolutely filthy. So filthy you could not see out the exterior windows to drive. Some of the filth got into the interior where it looks like the shippers themselves rolled the side windows down to see. The other areas of the interior were fine. There was one area on the roof of the car where it appeared that another vehicle had leaked oil onto it. I suppose fortunately my roof has a panoramic glass top and the oil did no damage. It was difficult to initially determine if the vehicle had been damaged or scratched due to the extensive dirt on the exterior. Overall things turned out to be satisfactory.

My experience with Ship a Car direct was fine and I would use them again. You could have a different experience if a different shipper does things better or worse. Matt had mentioned that they had utilized this shipper before with good results. That was about as much as I could go on at the time.

Thanks for the 5 star review, Shane! You bring up a really important point: pricing can change seasonally, especially in and out of Florida. If you are quoted months in advance during the "off" season, your estimate might be underpriced for what is available during a high season. Your estimate will be most realistic if you request a quote within a week or two of your actual ship date.
