TERRIBLE Hauler and Poor Communication

Ship a Car Direct was VERY friendly and accommodating when they wanted my business. They were willing to answer my questions at most any time, and they reassured me that my car would be in good hands. Before my car was picked up, I would have given Ship a Car Direct the highest marks for customer service. However, once they had my business, they were not nearly as responsive nor as friendly.

My biggest concern though was the hauler they booked to take my car. Their dispatcher made promises that they then refused to honor and threatened to take my car to a facility several hundred miles away that I would then have to travel to retrieve my car as well as pay travel and storage fees unless I agreed to all of their delivery restrictions. My car arrived VERY dirty (I still cannot get the oil off of it) and I can only hope there is no damage, as I was unable to inspect my car (as it was delivered at night under duress) nor am I able to adequately inspect it now as there are still oil spots on it. I would mention the hauler by name, but I am honestly afraid of their potential retribution against me, as they were somewhat scary people who were slightly threatening during my dealings with them.

When the hauler was threatening to take my car hostage I was unable to reach my representative at Ship a Car Direct despite the fact that she stated I could call her "any time" if there was ever a problem; she stated that she had her phone with her at all times with access to calls and email. That proved to NOT be the case, as she did not respond to my frantic calls nor emails. I even enlisted the help of my family to keep trying her while I was dealing with the threats from the hauler. She did contact me after the fact. But by then it was too late.

However, they were the cheapest quoted price. I suppose I got what I paid for.

Given all of this, I say to anyone thinking of using this company "caveat emptor" (buyer beware).

We are so sorry that the carrier did not honor your delivery restriction. That is completely acceptable so we will not be using that carrier again. There were limited carrier options at your requested preferred price. Our original quote would have provided more (and better) carrier options. It is true that you can call us anytime if there are issues (and we want to know when there are problems) but unfortunately your representative is not available 24 hours a day.
