A Nightmare Experience

SafeDirect quoted $650. Nowhere did they indicate that it could cost more. Although I hired them months before the move date, the rep never gave me any inkling that the cost could be more until 5 days before the move. Then, I learned to my great surprise that he'd have to keep upping my offer on the central dispatch in order to get a trucker to bite. In disgust, I fired SafeDirect. I then hired another company. The rep there was very honest. He told me we were moving at a very busy time of year, and explained to me how we'd have to occasionally up our offer in order to entice a trucker. In the end, it cost me $1,200 - way more than the original quote.

BUYER BEWARE: A quote from a car-moving broker is about as good as a promise from a politician or a car salesman.

Thanks for your feedback - it is a perfect example of why not to place your orders months in advance. Prices do fluctuate from week to week, there is no way to confirm a price weeks or months in advance. It's best to price a quote within a week or so of your ship date. There is no reason your transport had to take $1200 - ouch! It could have been done for $900 at most, probably less. We are so sorry to hear your frustration led you to be taken advantage of so egregiously.
