Vehicle Transport Review

After considering numerous quotes and talking directly to each of the Brokers who quoted me for the job, I selected Safe-Direct, not because they were the least expensive but because they seemed to have the best responses to my questions, an informative website, and good BBB and Transport Ratings.

The initial process of confirming my order details was simple and straight forward. Unfortunately it took longer to get my vehicle assigned to a carrier than I expected. I was called several times by David suggesting I move both the city of pickup and delivery to make it more attractive to a carrier. I explained to David that my pick-up and delivery locations were both within major metropolitan areas, within 5 miles of major interstate routes and there were multiple major car dealers within 5 miles of my location in all directions using car transport carriers. In any event, I agreed to list my vehicle for pickup in the community abutting my original pick-up location (within 5 miles).

I was subsequently called after the change in pick-up location and advised a carrier would do the job but wanted $100.00 more. I rejected the offer at that time as I was advised by David that my original quote was competitive and I had already agreed to accommodate carriers with a more convenient pickup location for them. Several days later David called and said another carrier would do the job for $80.00 more. I was frustrated by the delay in getting a carrier so I agreed to counter the carrier at $50.00. I subsequently received an email stating that the carrier had been assigned but upon review of the assignment email I noticed that the price had increased $100.00 vs. $50.00 as agreed. After numerous emails with David, I was finally credited with the $50.00 overcharge for the carrier.

The carrier was very responsive but had numerous delays in making the pick-up on the day agreed. I reluctantly agreed to a nighttime pickup in a rain storm to get my vehicle picked up and moving towards its destination in California. The vehicle arrived on time and was delivered to my door albeit dirty from the roadtrip.

Resolution of a rebate for $50.00 I was promised as part of my quote from the Broker is still pending but I have been assured by David that this will be forthcoming. I recommend that anyone going through this process in the future make do their homework and understand the process before they contract with a Broker. Keep track of all contracts, receipts, evidence of insurance & transport documents (including pictures of your vehicle before and after pickup and delivery), emails, and telephone calls is also advisable to avoid any miss understandings.
