I needed my car shipped from Maryland to southern California, and I contacted Safe-Direct because of the company's consistently good reviews on TransportReviews.com. Because my transportation needs weren't time-sensitive, it took about about 2 weeks before Safe-Direct was able to find a carrier to pick my car up in Maryland. However, when Safe-Direct finally did get a carrier to agree to the pickup, the company contacted me on a Saturday when I was out of town and unavailable by phone, pressing to get my approval to move forward with the carrier. It turns out the company they chose was FHT Auto Transport, which has an F rating on the Better Business Bureau. I had a lot of discomfort putting my car in the hands of this shipper, so I declined the offer and requested that Safe-Direct find another carrier. Within a day, Safe-Direct found a more reputable carrier who they work regularly with, and so we moved forward. Within 2 days Ace Auto Trans picked up the car in Maryland - they were responsive throughout the following week and let me know when they expected the delivery. Unfortunately I had to travel unexpectedly for business that week and hadn't planned to return until the very day the car had planned to be shipped to San Diego. Fortunately Ace Auto Trans was able to schedule the delivery the following day when I had returned from my business trip. The car arrived in San Diego within the 4 hour window as promised - although it was somewhat dirty on the outside, it was in good condition with no extra scratches than what was already on the car. Although I had my doubts in the beginning, overall working with Safe-Direct was a good experience and my car arrived quickly once it was picked up.

Thank you for your feedback, June. There are many factors we review when confirming a carrier. While a BBB rating is certainly something to consider, it may not always accurately reflect a company's commitment to providing the contracted service. We only confirm carriers who meet certain criteria and we do reject carriers who do not meet the standard.
