Car received promptly with some frustrations

I looked into quite a few different transport companies and based on the quotes I received, customer reviews from this site and BBB scores.

Honesty's reviews and scores made me feel most at ease, and while they were certainly on the lower end of the quote pool, they were not the cheapest.

Overall, I'm very happy that I received my car very promptly and in good shape. My main issue was with the communication I had with my main contact. Although part of this may have been due to faulty research on my part, I really wish I had been more explicitly told by that person about a few things.

First: I was driving to Texas in a rental truck with my partner and towing his car, which was why I wanted to ship mine. The person I was dealing with at Honest First suggested I have the pick up date no sooner than the day after we left so the car didn't get there before us. I arranged to have my family be there to release the car and was explicitly told that there would be notification the day before (from either the carrier or Honest First) letting my family know when to expect the carrier (seeing as there was a 3-day window).

The second day on the road, there still wasn't any word on a carrier, so I contacted Honesty First. The main contact person seemed a bit surprised that I didn't realize that it may take longer than the 3 day lead period to get someone out there. He then informed me to get a carrier to my car, we would need to lure them with more money. Being on a very tight budget, I hadn't really allowed for this additional $100, but didn't have much choice. The following day, the carrier called my family and told them to be ready in 20 minutes...

Luckily they were in a position where they could do that to release the car. A half hour after my family called me to tell me the car was on the carrier (much to my surprise), Honesty First called to tell me that a carrier had agreed to take the car... I expressed my frustration as part of Honesty First's claim is that you are allowed to review the carrier before putting down a deposit. Obviously, this wouldn't be possible, since my car was already en route.

I was also informed that I would need to pay cash at this time. It made sense to me after it was explained, but I wish it had been EXPLICITLY explained much earlier in the process that I would be expected to pay $1000 cash to the carrier when my car arrived.

So. Here's the bottom line. Overall, I'm very happy to have my car here, undamaged, and it arrived literally a day after I got there, which was very convenient. I just wish I had been better prepared.
