After dealing with a "broker" for two weeks and never getting a date, it was five days before I was leaving and still no committment, only a suggestion that I should consider a "back-up" contract, which essentially meant the price I was given was no good and it would increase...too good to be true...beware. I was highly frustrated and terribly stressed out. I made a simple call to my household goods shipper and my price and dates were confirmed in less than three hours. Reindeer called, there were no "windows" for pick up, but a firm date for both pick up and delivery. These so called auto transport companies on line, are simply brokers who sell your car to the lowest bidder which translates to maybe you will get a trucker who needs to fill a space and will be in your area that day or close to that day. Yes, I may have paid more, but the stress of wondering who was coming to pick up my car and who they were working for was removed. These on-line brokers dont even know the trucker until they bid for your car...it is hit and miss, and yes, you do get what you pay for. thank you JK, and Reindeer. I should have known better, when the so called transporter didnt even want the VIN or license plate for my car...that was the 1st thing Reindeer asked for. I am wondering where my car would be right now, had I not gone with Reindeer...maybe in a shipping container, headed South?
