Driver was terrible

Almost immediately after being posted to the transportation board, a carrier called JDL Auto Transport contracted to take my car. The driver was supposed to pick my car up on a Saturday, but called to explain his truck registration had expired and the pick-up was delayed until Tuesday. He then told me he would be in the Charlotte area Thursday afternoon, but called enroute to tell me he was broken down in Alabama due to some part on his engine spewing diesel. He was looking at the cars when I was on the phone with him and he said they were all covered with diesel fuel, but he resisted any compensation to pay for cleaning them. When I got my car and got it cleaned, I noticed that the fuel level was down significantly, and there were clear footprints on my floor mats that would not come clean because they were dirty from diesel. The driver had told me during one of our conversations that my car was on the back of the truck, so it was obvious that he used my car to drive to the truck dealer to get his new part, and then drive it back. I called him later and confronted him about this, and he denied using my car. When I asked him why I had more miles on my car than when it was picked up, the fuel level was down almost half a tank, there were diesel fuel footprints on both floor mats of the front seats, and one of my reusable grocery bags in the trunk smelled of diesel, he had no answer. Phoenix Auto Transport may be OK (we'll see what they do about this situation), but never use Rich at JDL Auto Transport.
