My full-size van broke down 800+ miles from home while hauling Boy Scouts back from a cross-county outing. It would run, but not at highway speeds. No time to troubleshoot with 11 other scouts to get home, so i locked it up at a truck stop. We rented another van and completed our trip. Primary mission accomplished! But now that I'm home ... how do I retrieve my sick van?

I posted my info online, and literally 5 seconds later i got a call from Eric at Navy Auto Transport. Professional, courteous, and did a great job of managing my expectations. (E.g. warned me a pickup in Big Springs, NE might be tough.) He clearly explained the overall process for getting a carrier, and where he fit in. We went through several scenarios of "What if 'this' goes wrong?" He repeatedly/patiently assured me that I pay nothing unless my van arrives at my house.

Eric advised that since it could start, it would be much lower risk for loading if i could ship the key to the local post office and have the carrier drive the van onto their trailer instead of a winch. I really liked this, as i can imagine all kinds of damage with dragging a full size van onto a trailer.

I recieved MANY calls and emails from Eric's competitors at other companies. Most were offering more expensive quotes. (Some were doubled from what Eric gave me.) Not one of them were willing to discuss the option of their carrier using my key. They just berated me for bringing the key home. (What else was i supposed to do with it? How many people do you know and trust in Big Springs, Nebraska?)

Bottom line: Eric / Navy Auto Transport did an absolutely phenominal job of finding a capable carrier to bring my van home. They got it here quicker and cheaper than i could if i drove or flew out to get it myself. I hope to never need such help again ... but if i do, I'll look up Eric Hughes at Navy Auto Transport .
